Behind Atom & Ink is a team of PhD scholars and research professionals who believe critical thinking should not have to wait for college. We mentor students through the real process of research: asking sharper questions, structuring their thoughts, and expressing them with clarity and confidence.

Two halves, one idea

Understanding comes first and expression comes second, and most students are asked to do the second without ever being given the first. So we run two things rather than one.

The Concept Clinic is for the single topic that will not click. Fractions, photosynthesis, the past tense. One session, on that one thing, planned around that one student and paid for on its own, with no coaching package attached and nothing to keep paying for once the confusion is gone. The test at the end is whether you can explain it back.

The Journal and Knowledge Hub are where curiosity turns into something lasting.

A doctoral mentor works with the student to shape their idea into a well-written, meaningful article. The finished piece can be submitted to the student’s own school journal or magazine, the Atom & Ink Journal, or both. We guide the writing and mentoring process, while the school’s submission and publishing process remains with the school.

The Knowledge Hub is Atom & Ink’s own space: a collection of short, engaging articles that take one idea and explain it properly, making knowledge accessible to anyone who wants to learn.

What publishing does

For students, publishing with us means more than a byline. It is a first real step into the world of research and academic expression. For schools, it is a ready-made platform for inquiry-based learning that strengthens student profiles and fits the way modern curricula already work. Each published piece is a record of a student’s intellectual journey, and it tends to leave them more confident and more original than it found them. And the finished article can run in the school’s own journal or magazine as easily as in ours.

How students reach us

We publish two issues per year, featuring work by students guided by their schools, their teachers, their parents or their tuition mentors, together with us. Whether a student turns out to be a budding scientist, a thinker or a maker, every child deserves the opportunity to be heard. At Atom & Ink their ideas are the subject, not the decoration.

The founder

Dr. Yashika Mirchandani is a biotechnology researcher turned medical writer turned entrepreneur. With a doctorate in Biological Science and experience as a medical writer at Indegene, she founded Atom & Ink to bring the rigour and the joy of research to school students, helping young minds turn curiosity into structured ideas.

What we ask of students

The work has to be theirs. Mentoring means helping a student find the shape of their own argument, not writing it for them. That is slower, and it is the only version of this worth doing: a paper a student cannot explain is not a paper they wrote.
